Hi all!

I am currently in the process of filling out forms for the sponsorship of my "conjugal" partner living outside of Canada, in China (I currently reside in Canada, I'm Canadian). Now, given that we are around the World from each other while going through this whole process, I have a question regarding the submission of our file:

Some forms require that we both sign, but we can't physically accomplish that task. So what are our options? I can see two:
  1. She signs the document, I print it, sign it and scan it again....
  2. We use the signature feature in Adobe Reader and use electronic signatures in all our forms.
Of course option 2 is ideal because it would make our lives simpler, but I am worried an application for permanent residency is too formal to accept anything else than handwritten signatures. Has anyone dealt with this situation before? Or could anyone confirm that electronic signatures are OK?

Thank you for your help.

It's my understanding that the forms must be physically hand signed by the applicants. IRCC’s position is that while they may accept scanned copies, they may require production of the original hand signed copies.

Thanks a lot for your reply!

So I would ask her to sign all her documents, ship all her stuff to me and then sign myself and submit? There's no easier way?

That's correct, to both questions.
