Can I travel to Canada with an ETA

Please I will like to know if I can travel to Canada with an electronic travel authority (ETA).Getting a TRV is very difficult in my country.if I get an ETA ro canada can I request for asylum at point of entry or when I am inside Canada already.Thank you

An ETA is only for visa exempt passport holders so if you need a TRV you cannot even get an ETA. Also note even though not applicable to you an ETA is not a visa it just allows visa exempt passport holders to board a plane for Canada and does not guarantee entry to Canada.

No - you can't. If you need a TRV - then you do not qualify for an eTA.

It's fake and that will be caught at the time they try to board the airplane.

The only way you can qualify for an eTA is if you also hold a valid US green card.

That would only be possible through fraud. If you come to Canada fraudulently, then you can be removed from Canada at any time in the future. Even if you get PR or citizenship - at any point in the future you can still be sent home - and there have been a number of cases where this has happened. If you want a future in Canada, don't enter the country through fraud - that's a crime.

Based on your answers, you cannot apply for an eTA. You may need a visa or other type of travel document to travel to Canada.

As a Ghanian passport holder, airline authorities at the departure airport/ any transit airports would not have allowed/should not have allowed that person to board the flight because Ghanians are not eligible for eTAs + there was no visa counterfoil stamped in his/her passport.

Assuming airline authorities were ignorant (again, this does not normally happen), the person would have been refused entry when s/he arrived at Canadian immigration/ port of entry for not possessing the correct entry document i.e. a TRV.

Or maybe the person traveled on a fake passport and/or fraudulent documents and s/he can be removed from Canada at any point in time like scylla has explained

Even if you get on the first plane due to an error from the flight crew (which shouldn't happen) you will run into a problem when you try to board your connecting flight which will likely be in Europe. They will be aware of your need for a VISA.
