Hi all,

I'm going to apply for a TRV this week in Sydney, Australia. Since I got my US B1/B2 visa approved recently I'm planning to travel to US first in December for about 10 days. However I'm not sure about whether I can finalize my TRV application before I travel to US due to the uncertainty of processing time. So I want to ask if I do travel to US first and then receive a OPR while I'm in US, can I send my passport to local Canada embassies for the finalization of my TRV application so that I can travel to Canada from US directly once they send my passport back to me?

You must apply online.

If you get a passport request when you're in the US then you would need to either mail/submit your passport to the nearest VAC (Visa Application Centre) in the US.

If you intend to stay for only 10 days in the US then this may not be a good idea because you need to factor in at least 10-15 business days for passport transmission in the US

Hi, Bryanna,

Does it mean that I can submit the passport to any VAC in countries other than the country where I applied for the TRV application or my living country? In my case I'm living in Australia and applied for a TRV there, can I submit my passport to any VAC in US to finalize the application after I traveled to there?

That’s right, but as Bryanna said, given your plan to stay in the US for only 10 days, that’s very risky since we see a lot of delays with US-based processing. Be prepared to have flexible plans.
