Can I resign at my current job while waiting for Work Permit?

Hi,

I currently have an employer who would like to hire me in Alberta. The posting will expire in May but I want to resign now with my current employer in my hone country. Can I resign at my current job while waiting for Work Permit?

If the job offer is legit, they would need to apply for an LMIA which could take 4-6 months. If you want to resign from your current job, that is entirely your decision, but you can't go to Alberta and work without the permit.
