I promised my employer that I work for certain period of time after I get pr status by PNP.

What if before the promised term expires I quit job, can my employer take any legal action or am I free to leave my company for any reason?

Just wondering. Thanks.

Did you sign a contract with your employers stating you would work for them for a X number of years???

If not, then after you get your PR, I do not think you are obligated to stay with the employer that nominated you.

But it may be better to ask this question on the PNP forum, as most people here only have experience of the Family Class application procedures.

But, unless the employer is reneging on a promise, or treating you badly, why quit? The employer went to some trouble to get you the work visa. To quit soon ater landing in Canada is comparable to marrying someone for the visa, then divorcing soon after landing, no?

Furthermore, when applying for a new job, you are asked for references and work history. This would not look good on your CV.

That is a very good point indeed. Being a PR does give you some responsibility within Canada and a good work history will help.
By ditching the employers that helped you get your PR, you may lose a very good reference.
