Can I move to any other province after getting a provincial nomination from Prince Edward Island?
Hi Guys,
Need some help here. I had been trying to get a Canadian Permanent Resident Visa for quite some time now. However, I had checked on the CRS calculator and my score was just 405. I have never seen the Express Entry cut-off scores dip so low. So, my options were to either wait for the scores to drop or try other ways to improve my score.
I am 37 years old, hence getting to 405 was also tough. I already have a very good IELTS score. So the only options that I had were to either get a job offer from Canada or to apply for a provincial nomination. I tried a lot to get a job offer from Canada for the NOC Code 6221 as I am into software sales. However, all my efforts were in vain. I could not find a single employer who would offer me a job.
Now my next option was a provincial nomination. I decided to research all the provinces that I was eligible for. Almost all provinces had very elaborate eligibility criteria, except for perhaps Prince Edward Island. You only need to qualify for the Federal Skilled Worker Program, which I did, and have a valid Express Entry Profile. I thought, why not apply for the Prince Edward Island provincial nomination while I research on the more popular provinces like British Columbia and Ontario.
After a couple of weeks of applying for the PEI PNP, I received a notification on my Express Entry account that I had a provincial nomination from PEI. I was overjoyed as I had yet not applied for any other province. Mind you, I was handling the whole Canada PR process on my own. So, you can understand how euphoric I felt when I saw the notification. I accepted the nomination and my scores jumped up by 600 points. Yes, I got an ITA too and I have also submitted my Canada PR Visa application as I had kept my application ready and was only waiting for an invite.
The euphoria of seeing my Canada PR dreams come true has now subsided a bit. I decided that while my PR application is under process, why not look up job opportunities in Prince Edward Island.
To be honest, I do not see a lot of job opportunities in my domain in PEI. I know my Canada PR will allow me to work in any other domain but I had hoped to capitalize on my many years of experience in the said field.
There are a host of opportunities in Ontario and British Columbia though.
So my question is, is it possible for me to move to Ontario or any other province even though I have a provincial nomination from PEI?
