Can I live with my husband in India while we wait for his spousal visa ?

I would like to know if i can stay in india with my husband during the whole process until he gets his visa so that we can go back together ? I am canadian citizen. My representative told me that after the spouse sponsorship thing is approved from mississauga and they send our file to new delhi then i will have to get back to canada ? Is that true ?

You absolutely can be with your husband in India during the process. You will have to include information in your application showing your intent to re-settle in Canada though. Things like employment offers, or property ownership in Canada. In our case, my wife (a Canadian Citizen who had been living with me in the UK for the past 5 years) just included a letter with her job offer from her employer, and a brief description of why we were moving back to Canada and what our plans were. We had no problems. You are NOT required to be living in Canada during the process as you are a Canadian Citizen. Hope this helps, and makes the wait more bearable! good luck!
