hi, i am due to come and visit canada on the 3rd of june, to visits and marry my g/f of 2 years on the 18th june i have came to visit her a number of times before with no issues but now i am getting close to the date i am starting to get a little worried about somthing and was hoping u guys good shed some light on this.
as i understand it as a british citizen will not not need a trv to visit her for upto 6 months, i have a return ticket for 5 months and i intend to use these 5 months to ofc spent some time with my new wife and to wait for the marriage circs and get a medical to help with my immigration application for the future.
me and my wife tobe have discussed this and we both agree it will be faster for me to apply for this from the uk.
my question is have i missed anything in regards to entering the country to visit/marry her.
do i need a special visa in order to do this or is my visitor visa ok?

thanks..... lee

Hi Lee,

You won't have any problems for marrying your GF, you would have get a marriage license which cost around $130 from the registry office, the license is valid for 3 month from the date of issue.

When you enter Canada just tell them you are just visiting. Good luck

thanks for the response :)
also i was wondering if it will be better to advise the port of entry staff of me getting married or just not bring it up, when they ask me why i want to stay for 5 months, im really worried about saying the wrong thing and ruining my own wedding . lol

Hi Lee,

I would suggest not mentioning the marriage intentions during your visit. Tell them you are visiting and if pressed just say you are visiting a girlfriend/partner and keep focus on how excited you are to be visiting her.

My 2 cents. ;)

Like journeyman said no need to to tell them you are intentions are to get married. Just keep it simple and say visiting your partner and friends.

take care
