Hey,

I'm looking to stay in Canada for a while with my partner, and I was wondering if we'd be able to get married while I'm there on a work visa? Will I need some kind of other visa? He's a Canadian Citizen, and I'm a British Citizen

I wouldn't be going there with the intent to stay through marriage, we'd just like to get married. I'd leave at the end of my stay, and apply for a spouse visa from home in England (or Canada if that's possible?) because then we'd meet the requirements ect.

Also, can I take pets with me on a work visa? I'd like to take my reptiles, but I don't know if I have to have a different visa for that, or if it doesn't matter.

Please help, thanks.

1. If you are coming for work, you will need a work permit(issued at border), no other visa. Yes, you can get married.

2. Canada does not have a "spouse visa" per se, but your husband could sponsor you for permanent residence as his spouse. Check the "family sponsorship" section of the forum for more information.

3. Personally, I wouldn't take pets with me for the simple reason that a border officer could think you have more long term plans.

You can marry in Canada even with visitor visa :) Just dont mention to immigration officer that you're coming to Canada to get married, and you'll be fine ;)
