Can I enter Canada as a visitor without starting my OWP?

I have successfully applied for an open work permit and got an eTA. I want to enter Canada to work in the summer next year. However I would like to visit my friends in Canada during Christmas this year. Since I don't want to begin working now, is it is possible to enter Canada as as a tourist without starting my OWP? My passport (HK) allows me to enter Canada visa free.

you can travel but keep evidence documents that you have a job back home and you are not traveling for work now. You will need to convience the officer at POE that you intend to visit only and will not breach entry conditions.

Thank you. Do I need to apply for a new eTA or should I just use the one that comes with my OWP?
