I know that I cannot work for employers in Canada without the proper work permit, but am I allowed to sell things online? I used to have a shop online selling homemade items. Am I still allowed to do that?

As long as you're not selling to people in Canada - then yes.

Is this stated anywhere online? I've tried looking but haven't been able to find anything. I'd just like to verify :)

If you're selling to Canadians then you are conducting work in Canada and need a work permit. If you sell to Canadians from within Canada without a work permit then you are engaging in illegal work. There are multiple older threads on this forum that cover this subject if you conduct a search.

Look for CIC Resource Manual FW01-eng.pdf on their website. Section 5.1 details working remotely via telephone or Internet. This would seem to be what you're looking for.

As already mentioned by scylla, avoiding Canadian customers is paramount.

Ah, perfect. Thanks guys! :)
