Hello seniors,

I am wondering can you do medical request before the cic request for it? I read the cic website says that the result of the medical will be valid for a year.

I plan to submit my application in late oct
Do medicals in late dec (expires in dec 2013, by that time I should have the med request)
Will cic accept my medical? Will they ask for another med exam later in the process?

Thanks a lot

Nope, you got to wait till CIC requestes you to do the medicals. They will send you some forms which you will need to take to the dotor with you.

Yes, you can do your medicals before CIC requests it. All DMPs have the same forms that CIC will send. Make sure you tell the DMP it is for your permanent residence application. Your results can be reported using your client ID and again with your file number(when you receive it). Also, you do the medicals in October and include a copy of your receipt in the application package.

Note that, they can extend your medicals for an additional year if you have no medical problems. I don't know the exact criteria for it, but they extended mine and it's in my GCMS notes too.

SenoritaBella, I believe you are right and that you can submit medical results without being asked for it, but how does the Dr's office forward the results to the CPP_O if you haven't got your AOR yet?
No AOR means no file number, right??

Same questions with anipear and what are dmp and gcms standing for? Thanks a lot in advance

The DMP will report your results using your client ID number. Results go to a database, accessible to the medical officer in Ottawa who makes a decision on whether you have passed or failed. So when you get your file number, inform the DMP and they will report the same results using the file number. This is what my DMP did.

DMP = designated medical practitioner - these are physicians authorized by Immigration Canada to perform medicals for immigration purposes
GCMS - Global Computerized Management System or so - a database available to visa officers at various Canadian visa posts and usually contain detailed information about your immigration history. You can request information about your application for free under the Privacy Actif you are in Canada or have someone in Canada(Canadian citizen, permanent resident or holder of valid permits) do it on your behalf for a $5 fee under the Access to Information Act.
