Hi!
Hope all is well. I am new here!
I am incoming international student for fall 2021 intake starting August 30 2021 to April 2023 (2 years).
Unfortunately, my student permit is still pending (now on its 3rd month, reviewing eligibility not yet started) and my classes will start in less than 2 weeks on August 30th. The University's options for me is to either start online remote classes outside Canada even while student permit is pending at may own risk (in case of refusal later on, tuition fee will not be refundable) or withdraw before September 16 (last day to withdraw without financial penalty) and re-apply again for Fall 2022. My program has no deferral option and winter 2022 intake.
Given the risks and possible options, I am more inclined to withdraw my fall 2021 enrollment and re-apply again for fall 2022 for the same program and university to mitigate any financial losses. However, I am not sure how this will affect my ongoing visa/ permit application. I know that if my visa/ permit sadly gets refused after my withdrawal, then no issues I will just re-apply again using the new LOA I will get. But if I my visa / permit gets approved after my withdrawal and I am in the process of re-applying for new LOA, will there be any dire consequences? Will IRCC cancel that visa?
Can I just update IRCC once I secure the new LOA, send an explanation letter about what happen if needed, re-pay for a new student permit fee and or attach updated proof of funds?
Or I will have to withdraw my entire student permit application too when I withdraw from the school?
It's supposed to be as easy as a "deferred" case but sadly the university has no deferral option regardless of refusal or super delayed visa outcome which made everything complicated.
I read of previous cases that were able to change school after visa gets approved. They just updated the IRCC with the new LOA. But I haven't seen similar case to me where switching of school (but it my case, I intend to still apply to same school and program) happened while the permit is still pending.
Thank you in advance for any insight you can share!
