Hello,

I and my husband have PR status and we live in Toronto.

I am only child and I need to bring my mother to Canada from India.
She is a patient of pschizophrenia and has noone other than me to take care of her.

Please suggest ways in which I can bring her to Canada to live with me.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi

If you qualify, you can try to sponsor her. However, schizophrenia can be an expensive condition to treat, so there the possibility that she will be medically inadmissible.

You were likely aware of your mother's mental health issues when you relocated to Canada. You must have had a plan in place to care for her knowing that you couldn't bring her immediately and may be medically inadmissible. If she needs care during the day and night that will likely fall on you and your wife. There are not a lot of services for the mentally ill in Canada. It often falls on the family. If you had to pay for help at home would you be financial feasible at the Canadian rate? Would your mother have a better quality of life in India? Depending on the age of your mother you may have to pay for her medication out of pocket.
