To be eligible, you have to have a certificate, diploma or degree. It's not your choice to declare education or not. In other words, you can't have an Express Entry profile WITHOUT education or IELTS. Only case you don't need ECA is if you have a Canadian degree.
That's what I meant.

ECA is not mandatory UNLESS YOU WANT TO DECLARE POINTS FOR YOUR FOREIGN CREDENTIAL. For example, an applicant who has no Canadian education history and wants to use their ECA to declare points, then ECA is required.

The express entry system has FSW, PNP, and CEC. To enter the Express entry system, ECA is not mandatory. Some PNP programs and CEC does not necessarily have to have ECA to apply under express entry, unless the applicant wants to get points for their foreign education. But for FSW, an ECA is required if the applicant did not go to school in Canada.

You are mixing up FSW and express entry system. Express entry is just a system, not a stream. Each stream or program has a different requirement. Anyone has questions, see link below:

There is no error in the calculation, as the calculation cannot be performed without the IELTS score. The "Calculate" button on CIC's website gets activated only after all the fields, including IELTS scores in all the four sections, are filled. It's a case of someone misguiding the applicant to make money. :)

True. They may have given assumed IELTS scores for calculation.

Are you sure with "You need a minimum of 6 in each module of IELTS to be eligible for express entry."?
I've tried many possible scenario and got over 441 points even with module of 5 or less.

The minimum IELTS score of 6 in each module is required if you are applying under the Federal Skilled Worker stream or Canadian Experience Class (NOC 0 or A).
If you are applying under the Canadian Experience Class (NOC B) or the Federal Skilled Trades stream, then the minimum required IELTS score is lesser.
