hi , i want know that i have Master's in History from pakistan can i apply for canadian immigration or my study is equivalent skilled worker Program ?because i heard some Postgraduate stuides are not able earn Points in skilled worker Program . Thanks

Canadian immigration is based on points system. You need 67 points to be eligible for the application. Please read more information at the link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-factors.asp

If you have finished your Master degree in 17 years of formal education, then you will get 25 points. In my understanding the Master degree in Pakistan is completed in 16 years of formal education. In this case, you will get 22 points.

You must have experience equivalent to at least one year of full time job. And your experience must fall in two one of categories in NOC (http://www23.hrdc-drhc.gc.ca/2001/e/groups/index.shtml)

thanx for answer yes you are right that in pakistan its 16 years study for master but i wanted to know that is it possible to get these points if my master degree is in field of History because i heard some masters degree dont earn points , thanx once again

Hi,

I don't see a reason why the Masters will not be considered. If you have seen the points calculator or the application where it asks for formal education it does not calculate based on the type of education rather is is based on the number of years.

You may very well see if there is a NOC which applies for your present occupation.I personally do not think that there should be any issues. However, this may be confirmed only by someone who has had such an experience. CIC does not state anywhere the points for science, arts or commerce it only has the NOC's for these streams of occupations.I don't think any one would know how the points were calculated for their application except when CIC comes forward and elaborates.

I hope this helps.Don't worry go ahead and do it....may be you'll be the ice breaker on such issues!!!! I feel U can and U should apply.

All the best,

AP

It is not the matter of subject in which you earned your Masters Degree. It is basically number of years attended some institution to qualify for the degree. So I do not see any problem for Masters in History. Apply with confidence. Good Luck
