I got my H1B revoked and am in 60 days grace period. My attorney will go for appeal but it will take 6-8 months. We want to wait that period in Canada with a visitor visa.

Is it like to get an approved visa for me and my family? Should I explain this to CiC in detail or just try my chance as a regular tourist applicant?

I don’t think it will be easy. The US and Canada share immigration details, and they may very well see that your H1B is revoked. You do have a grace period, but try to look at it from Canada’s perspective...your status in the US is not exactly stable, especially since you plan to appeal; you may risk overstaying in Canada. That’s just my unprofessional opinion though.

Thank you. I will explain the situation in detail to CiC and leave the decision to them.
