I wanted to apply now because i know that the payment for citizenship will increase again and im just a working student..thank you in advance if you could answer my question.

Rules have changed as of June 11, 2015. No more credits given towards physical presence and you have to be in Canada for 4 out of 6 years before you can apply for citizenship.

"You must have been physically present in Canada as a permanent resident for at least 1,460 days during the six years immediately before the date of your application. You must also be physically present for at least 183 days during each of four calendar years that are fully or partially within the six years immediately before the date of application. These requirements do not apply to children under 18".

Which means you will be eligible at least after July 2017 under the new rules.

Please read everything on CIC website for more info:

What wes786 said. You won't be eligible to apply until at least July 2017.

There has been some talk of the Liberals changing the rules back. But who knows if / when this is going to happen.

No you are not eligible do not apply otherwise you waste time and money wait

peacefully and enjoy your day, PR card are good for every thing except for

voting right and their is not election before 2017. just keep all your papers

in tact and when you are eligible apply and you will take only few months

for securing citizenship... As earlier people have to wait for few years to

secure citizenship.
