Can I apply for PRTD

Hi,

I hope people are doing well in this forum. I have landed at the End of March, 2011 and became a PR, and still waiting for my PR Card, which is still under process In the meantime, I need to leave Canada on an urgent basis and then return after 1/2 weeks.

So, I was wondering whether I can apply for the PRTD to return to Canada, given that my PRC is still under process, or it has been delivered to the designated address in Canada by the time I have applied for the PRTD. I will not have the time to wait for my friend in Canada to arrange to send that to me in my home country, as I will have to return to Canada as early as possible.

Also, does anybody has any idea how long it takes to process PRTD at CHC, Dhaka.

Seniors please advise.

Hello everyone,

The application for a travel document was simple. However I was asked why I left CA so early. I had to show my wife's PR card. Apparently the problem of photo not being as per requirements is pretty common. The lady at the counter immediately said "OH! your wife is lucky, what was wrong with your photo?" So she kind of took it for granted that it was my photo which was a problem.

Subsequently, when I met the visa officer I had to tell her that I had to come back soon because I had important commitments here.
As far as documents are concerned, there is a form for PRTD, which I downloaded and printed out. I attached copies of my COPR and had to give two photos. That was it. I got the TD the same day.

MY question to you all is>>>> IS AN APPOINTMENT REQUIRED WHEN VISITING THE CIC OFFICE PERSONALLY TO HAND IN YOUR PHOTOS?
I ask this because when I called the CIC, the officer told me that no such appointment was necessary. However the red letter does use the word appointment. Kindly advise at the earliest.

It says nothing about the processing time for PRTD. They asked to check in the CIC webpage for the processing time, where nothing is mentioned about it. I tried to phone the embassy, but they played a pre-recorded message saying that they don't answer visa related inquiries.

I can only tell you what I have heard and that is that in some embassies they can do a TD in a day and in others it takes 2 weeks. Do you have relatives or friends there who can physically go to the embassy for you and ask how long it takes?

Yeah you are right I am in the UAE and in the Embassy here the processing time for a travel document is 10 (working)days
