Hi,

I applied for common-law sponsorship to obtain permanent residency with my Canadian boyfriend (common-law partner) of 2 years. I applied in May 2014 and have yet to hear anything from them except that they received the application package.

Now, I am able to apply under the Canadian Experience Class and have my application ready to send; however, I am a little apprehensive about sending it. I have all my documentation in order and a cover letter explaining to the CEC that I am applying under two categories and why. (Just making it clear that my partner and I are still happily living together).

Is it safe to send this package to the CEC (I would like to send it before December 2014 as the rules I guess will change in January 2015)? Will they get fussy over two applications? And also, I pay for another application fee, so that isn't the issue.

Yes - you can apply for CEC.

Yes - you will have to pay a second set of fees.
