Can i apply for an open work permit after marrying an Internation Student?

Greetings.

My partner is an International Student in Canada.
By mistake he didn't include me as a Common-law partner in his application for a Study Permit.
We only later learned that this would have secured an open work permit for me.
I am going to visit him and we are going to marry. Can i apply for an open work permit after that, and how should we do it?
