Hi,
I came in Canada as a Intra Company Transfer employee on a Closed Work Permit in 2017. I brought my wife with me on SOWP. Our work permits were to expire by late 2020. To cut a long story short, we (both) got a work permit extension in 2020 valid till late 2022. Also recently, my wife got a Study permit to study valid till late 2023. She applied in-Canada with eligibility based on my work permit and her own work permit. Currently she hold both a Study Permit (valid till late 2023) and an Open Work Permit (valid till late 2022).
I was wondering, if am I eligible for a SOWP valid till late 2023 based on her Study Permit? I already hold a closed work permit valid till late 2022. While, I do not intend to immediately, having an open work permit will grant me opportunities beyond my employer and my job title.
I am a bit worried if this will be seen as an intent to not leave Canada at the end of my prospective open work permit.
I am still a little bit tentative about applying for PR and my PCC from India is still under process. Because of Covid, all things in India are in a massive delay and mess.
@canuck78 @scylla @PMM @k.h.p. what do you folks think?
