Hi I am a Canadian citizen and I applied to sponsor my husband. But he enter in Canada has a visitor, and his time as a visitor is expiring can he wait in Canada, until we have some answers about the sponsorship?

He can apply to extend his visitor visa, you can go online to check the extension details. Do not let it expire, he will then overstay and that is not good for the application.

While he's in Canada and the PR application is in process he is on implied status, however if the application gets returned to you, then he will no longer be legally in the country because the process stops and you'd have to re-submit it and the process starts from the beginning again.
Better to be safe and just extend it, I believe it's $100. You can wait for others to respond about the implied status if the visitor visa expires, but I'm almost sure that is how it works.
There are two streams of applications for sponsorship. Outland vs inland. If you applied inland that makes the visitor visa a moot point anyways because he is expected to stay in canada until the decision is made. If you applied outland then he got a visa afterward, overstaying that visa may be detrimental to the pr app.
Did you apply for the pr after he landed in canada or before?
