I am medical doctor, If I apply as doctor and after getting immigration,

1- Can I change profession ?
for example if I want to start a small business over there eg, I want to start a garment shop or a super store can I do it?
or I have to take any licence for it?

2- should i need IELTs to prove my profeciency in English? If So , At what stage of immigration process I would need it?

Please advice

I may be wrong, but you do not apply "as doctor", you apply as someone with X years of practice of medicine.

Your question was actually about starting a business - there's a special class for immigrants who want to open a business in Canada. If you have the money to set up a shop in Canada, then you can apply in the business class.

You will receive a letter asking for the IELTS or other proof of proficiency, and they will give you time to take it (three months, from what I read).

Dear , I am just askin because the answers I found in different discussion panels are very discouraging. It will be better to start a business than driving a cab or serving as security gaurd, If some one has money.
Other wise if some one wants to go on business VISA he must have to deposit a lot of money in bank for 5 years and about same amount he must have to keep for his daily expenses.

Am I right sir?

You can go under provincial nominee program investor. You can get away with investing 150,000 to 200,000 in a business. The federal program is the one that needs 400,000 for 5 years.

Leon is right. To clarify, there is an investor program and a business program. For the investor program, you must invest $500.000 in stocks or bonds. The business program is for people who wish to own and operate their own business, and you should have a enough money to start the business and enough money to last you a couple of years. You must also employ one person.

If you are immigrating based on your skills as a doctor, immigration Canada doesn't care what you do once you land in Canada. If you come over on a work permit, then you are restricted. Once you have your PR, who are free to do as you wish.

My advice: Be prepared to get any job you can and look around for a business. Make friends and ask for help when needed.

Best of luck to you.

Hint: if you are a medical doctor, and you have your own practice (that is, your own office, clients, maybe a nurse and/or a secretary who works for you), then you can claim some managerial (human resources, supplies, human relations) skills on your CV. This will not help you with your skilled worker permit, but could be useful in a job application.

as nicholas said, be prepared to get any job, and this means, be flexible, and explore your opportunities.

remember, you are not allowed to work as a doctor until your degree is validated (it can take a long time), but you can certainly claim that your abilities as a practicing doctor are useful in other fields.

good luck!

Actually you dont need 500.000$ Investment,B.C requires only 200.000 under regional investor,Some Atlantic Provinces only need 150,000
