Hi Guys,

I came to Canada last year in July 2014 :D as an International Experience Canada Candidate :). I got a one year work permit. My permit is LMO exempt 8). I have a Masters Degree and will complete my 5 years :o of work experience as a software developer including 1 year of Canadian experience in july 2015. I had applied for an extension of work permit with the same employer in December 2014 and haven't heard back from them :'(. When I called them they say I have to wait. I just wanted to know my options if I could apply for a Permanent Residence as I like working in this company. My Company is ready to give me a full time offer but they are not sure about my LMIA. Can somebody please advise me?

Please let me know if you need any more information about my course.

yes of course you can apply, have you registered already in EE? check the CRS tool and see rouglhy how many points you obtain, according to the info in July you will have 40 points for Canadian Exp, if CIC officer told you to wait, then give it some time my friend. LMIA is very tedious and time consuming for companies I believe

You can still apply under FWS if you meet 67/100 and add CEC once you complete 1 yr in Canada.
Also try to improve your scores. Because without LMIA you wont get 600 points.
But dont worry, now people who have 400 points gets ITA. So you will get it. Just got for it after checking if you have 67/100 and create the profile. Check what points you are getting and then try to improve it.

FYI - Without an approved LMIA, your work permit extension is going to be refused.

So scylla for this candidate in case no LMIA , is it better work for one year (Claim 40 points under EE) ; either apply for tourist visa/extend the stay (inland) or go back home and apply from there under EE later on?

@Jemdill

I am fairly new to this. Can you please point me to the link where I can calculate my points out of 100.
