I applied to Humber University and after being waitlisted was accepted to study practical nursing. After paying the tuition in full and submitting my application for a study permit visa on june 28, 2011, my application was denied on the grounds that i did not satisfy the officer that i will leave Canada at the end of my stay. The reason cited was "family ties in Canada and in your country of residence, your current employment status, and your personal assets and financial status". I have family in Jamaica and Canada, i am married, sold my car but still have my land. Is there anything that i can do? Also school begins on September5, 2011

hi,

1. Considering your class start date, its nearly impossible for you get visa on time. Either you should wait for the next year or try for Jan 2012 intake in some other college.

2. I am not sure but I have noticed visa officer puts heavy attention on the quality and content of prospective course. I mean your study plans must be relevant to your prior work or study.

3. To tackle the issue of family tie, its better to show strength in your bank account, it will certainly make your application strong.

4. And last thing, always remember "defeat is not final when you fall down...its final when you refuse to get up !" so try again..

Thank you. I am a banker but i wish to change my profession, that is why i applied also my bank account has sufficient funds in it there is one joint account however.
