Is it even possible or only when I become a citizen? I've been a PR for a couple of years and was living in US before moving to canada for many years (10+) but I am not a US citizen. I am a citizen of a very chill european country.

Who Can request a security screening
Individual employees do not initiate their own security screenings. Public Services and Procurement Canada's Contract Security Program allows registered organizations to administer security screenings on behalf of their employees.
The company security officer (CSO) or alternate company security officer (ACSO) for your organization determines who needs to be security screened based on the security requirements of the contract.
I should have added that I was informally offered a temporary job that will require a secret clearance. I just wanted to know if this would be feasible for someone with a PR, ie, not a citizen yet. The manager does not have first hand experience with PRs.
OK.. for secret clearance... u need to be citizen and 10 years of verifiable address history... and iF you are last 10 years are in US/Canada brilliant. If not they usuually reject it
Are you sure about the citizenship requirement? I ask because several people on reddit have said you do not need citizenship. Prior to coming to Canada I was living in US for many years, coming up on 15!
ooo yeaa then u eligible.. but many companies internally do not do until u r citizen(stupid but true)... I am in your boat .. PR but i have secret clearance..sometimes RCMP makes u go circles... sometimes intelligence...but eligibility wise u r
I wont disclose ... where i work we got it faster and we got special permission from High end govt office... but usually can take upto 6 months
