Hi everyone and especially seniors!

I again get my finger crossed to know a simple question: would it possible if a Temporary Foreign Worker can invite his mother to visit him temporarily in Canada?

Hope a kind and quick response,
Regards,
Nadeem

Yes. I did that a few months ago. Just fill all the documents for her, include your offer letter, paystubs, bank statement, work permit copy, visa and passport pages copy. All these are additional documents from your side, apart from the docs needed for the visitor visa.

did you apply single entry or multiple visa for your mother? which is preferable? is it renewable? ..let say can extend stay up to how many months upon expiry.

I applied for multiple entry (its the same cost for both), but it really depends on the mood of the VO. My mom got a multiple entry for 6 months.

Once entered she can stay for 6 months. Not sure about extensions/renewal.

If she wants to come again, i have to apply again. Since I was in a temp wp, i think the time duration for my mom's visa was also less. My sister applied from US and she got it for 2 yrs. (she did not apply to see me, she applied as a US visa holder!! different case)

Hi,

Thanks for the quick response especially for sharing the personal experience Mr. MCBoy

Actually I already speak with the Canadian consulate and they said, yes as long as your Work Permit is valid for at least 6months.

IMHO, single entry visa is more preferable as VO may suspect that he is already on Temporary Work Permit and applying his parents as multiple entry visa which does not make any sense, but still there's some exceptions and depends from which country your parents are going to apply the visitor visa.

I hope this will help.
