Hi,

What are the medical tests that one needs to undergo to get a candain Visa? Will the tests be same for applicant and dependents?

One of my friend's is applying for a PR and her husband suffers from a pre-existing disease of liver. My question is that what chances she stands to get him a PR with this disease?

PS: Although her husband is on medicines, but the disease is non-transferrable. He might have to undergo a liver transplant in next few years.

Any relevant answers will really help!

Thanks!

CIC has the policy responsibility with respect to medical inadmissibility
Entry into Canada to persons with three types of medical conditions:
 people with a health condition that is likely to be a danger to public health
 people with a health condition that is likely to be a danger to public safety .
 people with a health condition that might reasonably be expected to cause excessive demand on health or social services

Applicants for permanent residence and, in certain cases, temporary entry into Canada, will be required to undergo a medical examination to determine their health admissibility

Once medical exam is done, and visa officer evaluates it on the basis of provided medical results, they have to make sure that health condition should not cause excessive demand on health system of canada. Among the family member, any of application (prinicpal, or spouse or children) have health issues that cause above factors, application can be deemed as medical inadmissibility & hence denied visa application.

The panel physician will do a complete medical exam and may refer you for chest x-rays and laboratory tests. Once your exam has been completed, the physician will send the results to CIC.

The panel physician does not make the final decision about your medical exam. CIC makes that decision. If there is a problem with your medical exam, the visa office will contact you in writing

To be honest, this does not look good. Since this is a chronic disease requiring considerable medical attention, CIC might reject your friend because the disease might be considered to be excessive demand on health and social services in Canada. Although it might be worth trying!
