Forget about it...waste of time. I figured as much, but I was hoping for a little more help.

The agent did say that they are working hard on reducing the stage 1 timeline...he said it should be reduced within a few weeks...

I hear ya. I called once while working on our application for some claification... I flat out, right off the bat said "I'm hearing impaired, I will need you to speak slowly." Didn't listen to me. So I then said it again and realized the guy had an accent. Asked to speak to someone without an accent since I am hearing impaired and he said no, he's the one I must speak to. I was shocked. Told him AGAIN I'm hearing impaired and he said "What can I do for you then?" Ugh. Hate it when they don't listen. So I told him one more time and then he just hung up on me. GRR. Thankfully the next time I called I got someone with no accent. Must be nice to have such job security you can hang up on people... :-[

I try to avoid calling them for simple questions or status enquiry, for several reasons:

1) I always needed to keep calling for several times before I was put on the wait queue to speak to an agent. Not too fun and a bit waste of time in my opinion.
2) They could answer basic questions but for non-standard ones they could barely help. I may be able to get better answers by researching on the internet.
3) It would allow them to spend more time serving other people who are more in need of their help and who cannot do research on internet, etc.

LOL I suggest dont call. I am irritated when bell doesnt answer my questions fast enough for I cant imagine calling CIC. Never have never will call them. Waste of time from what I heard.

Working hard but no January approvals today! :( I can't believe it. Our stuff left on the moving truck today. I thought my husband could get a visitors visa - no such luck. I'm hoping step 2 is lightning fast.

I have only called CIC twice and both times they were more than helpful to me. Once was just a general question, and one was case-specific, and both times they were able to assist and were pleasant to deal with. However, I called as a last-result means.

I think it is better to not call. They cannot help. We just have to wait. If someone has questions, this forum is great.

I agree, I wouldn't call unless absolutely necessary. However to say that they cannot help is false. They helped me. I think it depends upon situation, your question/need, who you speak with etc.

And don't get me wrong. I called them twice in my whole process, and both of them were nice and tried to help. Sometimes they just couldn't help what they don't know, especially when my question was tricky. :)
And I feel for them needing to answer the same questions from many different people... I don't think I can do the job. :)

100% Agree because I have also hear the info they give can be contradictory if you speak to different agents. Plus they are not there to help speed up your process so bear that in mind.
