i am currently living in canada and i am sponsoring my wife

my Ecas status

decision made for sponsorship

in process for permanent residence

my question how long does it take for the visa office in cairo until they give her the visa plus i have been reading posts in this forum regarding similar situation like my wife and i some of them said " their status didn't change to in process until they were interviewed i am just wondering is it mandatory to have an interview or is it optional " and if she is exempted from the interview is it a good sign or a bad one

Not everyone has an interview. If you are exempted from the interview, it's generally a good sign, that they don't have any doubts about the relationship. Note that some applicants have interviews for reasons other than relationship, these are generally security interviews and I believe they usually deal with military issues (previous military or government service, to ensure you aren't a threat to national security).

And yes, ECAS does not give much information. Some officers/offices update it regularly, others...not so much. If you want a more detailed look at your case, order your case notes (GCMS). You can see there if the officer looking at your file is satisfied, or if you are in queue for an interview, etc.

it is not mandatory to have an interview and of course it is good sign, they will only give you an interview if they have doubts about your relation. However the visa office holds its right to request for an interview at any stage of the process, but it's ore likely that you have passed it since your application status is [decision Made].... but what is your timeline ? and how long did it take your wife to move from [in process] to decision made?
