Hello Everyone,

Cab someone please provide the details as to how to get my CAIPS Notes from CIC.
I'm currently in Vancouver, Canada and working here on work permit and has filed my PR application more than 2.5 years ago. But still waiting....

I was able to download the form IMM5563E.pdf but unsure whether I am allowed to do on my behalf or not?
Some websites offer to get the CAIPS notes for you (e.g caipnotes.ca) for $40 or so, how good that is...?

Thank you!

All help is highly appreciated... :)

Do not use the third party.

Most people who do are doing so because you must have Canadian address to order CAIPS.

You are already in Canada, so simply fill out the form, pay the fee online and mail the form out.

Good luck.

Is CAIPS & GCMS same or different....?

Pre-June applicants needs to apply CAIPS or GCMS...?

Thanks very much "Canada0801" :)

Here's the definition for CAIPS & GCMS:
CAIPS:
CAIPS is short for "Computer Assisted Immigration Processing System". It is the computer system historically used by CIC to process visa applications, and holds all the information on the current status of every immigration application being processed by overseas offices (ie. those outside of Canada), other than new applications at offices which have switched to using the "GCMS" system.

GCMS:
GCMS is short for "Global Case Management System", and is the newer computer system that CIC is rolling out across their offices around the globe. Once fully incorporated it would supersede CAIPS & FOSS; and manage all info under one umbrella - Mother of All. It's still under implementation in many overseas CHCs. And expected to be fully operational by 2012.

caips/gcms provide detailed information about the case.

few countries have updated their system to gcms and few are still using caips to store visa officer's notes and other information.

it can be obtained from caips.ca; they charge 30 cad, n quick too.

if u have a relative abroad u can fetch the same in 5 dollors.

tc.
