Dear sir

This is N.A.M from Pakistan. I have visitors visa valid till Sept 2019. I want to buy a small business in Canada and would like to operate myself. My question is can I buy small business in Canada being non resident and non Canadian. if yes then what type of visa i should apply for myself and for my family including three minor children.?? additional information my sister is permanent resident of Canada.

You can buy a business the problem is you can't work for the business from within Canada without some form or work or residency visa. I would suggest looking into one of the Entrepreneur streams to PR.

thanks for the reply. can I avail work visa after buying small business so that I can work/look after personally.

There is no loophole where buying a business allows a person to get a work permit.

No - you can't.

As I understand from your above comment is that I may not get work permit on buying business. Would you suggest exactly what type of visa I should pursue with my CAD 200,000/= investment so that I with my kids and spouse could move together to Canada

$200K isn't very much money so your options are quite limited.

I would recommend you look into the Start-Up Visa immigration program: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/business/start-up/index.asp

You can also consider student permit for your child with parents accompanying to Canada.

Parents aren't able to accompany a child on a study permit. If the parents want to come to Canada along with the child, they have to find a way to do this independently (e.g. through obtaining a job offer supported by an LMIA and obtaining a closed work permit).

But I know many stay at home parents.

If were that easy with such an amount hundreds of people in Europe would be selling up their houses and moving to Canada.

Maybe they are on visitor visas but for sure there is no program that allows parents to accompany a minor on a study permit only dependants of a study permit holder. Parents would need to apply separately from the study permit.

Again think about it everybody with a child under 18 would be flooding the country with applications if were possible, they wouldnt need to bother with any other type of permit, just use their child to get into the country.

Maybe check with these parents what their status is unless we all missed some loophole.

thanks for your valuable comments/advices. As per your advice keeping " Start up Visa" in consideration, I feel I should pursue "start up visa incubators". I just wanna know is there any minimum investment and minimum age requirement for this kind of visa?

I have heard that there are several key considerations you need to be aware of when you want to buy a business like you need a good customer base, need to finance, need to have a lot of supplies of products.

Does anyone have any advice?
