Has anyone tried to buy canadian dollars from open market in Delhi... not via bank or registered money exchanger? What kind of a risk could it be? Any inputs will be appreciated...

If you are buying from open market, there can be (???) counterfeit notes!!!. From a bank there is no such problem as you will have a proof by document. I suggest to check with different banks. My bad experience that during my travel last week via Delhi,I had to change 2000 CAD from Thomas Cook,( New Delhi airport -because I did not get a chance and time to go to any bank). They charged me a very higher rate and additional service charges and taxes..etc. I got @ Rs.49.30 + charges. One co-passenger Sardarji told me in the flight that he got CAD changed from Patiala bank @ Rs.45.10. So be careful before a final deal!!!.
