Business analysis course or Project management course

Hi Fam!

By terms of introduction, I am Karan interested in Data Analytics in Business program(Two Year - Ontario College Graduate Certificate) in St. Clair college

Professional summary:-

MBA, B.Tech with 4yrs+ exp in Consulting function. Currently working as a Senior Business Analyst with Evalueserve in a client-facing role (Boston Consulting Group) in Consulting and Research Advisory division. Before that, I worked as a Business Analyst in Deloitte Consulting USI. I am having good sound knowledge and skills related to Market Research Analysis, Strategy Formulation & Implementation, Data visualization, go-to-market strategies, Financial Analysis & Reporting, performance management. I had written a few journals and a book also on the Intelligent Video Analysis in Retail function.


Study background:-

Graduation - Btech, Mechanical engineering, 66%, 2015 pass-out

Post graduation - MBA, Marketing, 7.36CGPA, 2018 pass-out.

Due to less marks in graduation and backlogs I am unable to apply in good universities and colleges. In the last I am left with st. Clair College.


Q1) Will there be any chance of rejecting work visa considering my education and experience?

Q2) Data Analytics in Business program(Two Year - Ontario College Graduate Certificate) in St. Clair college or project management course (2year certificate program) from Lambton college? - In terms of jobs, and visa.

1) Yes. You'll want to explain why you are pursuing this level of education and this course of study after completing a Master's. Taking another Master's would be a better option.
2) Graduate Certificates typically have low value for employers in Canada. Master's would be far better.

You show your job prospects and how the program advances your career in your home country. If you have a MBA, how does a certificate lead to career advancement. You don‘t have Canadian work experience so can’t comment.

Do you have any idea about the job prospects after BA or PM course??

Go on Linkedin, you will see Lambton PM students 99% Sikh and they are all doing McDonald's or Wendy's after graduation. You should find a way to do a proper program unless that is your goal as well

Just a nitpicky question:- Considering my education that is a mixed one. But I have relevant experience and huge interest towards Data Analytics side. Will there be any chance of visa reject?? What your thoughts on this

Of course, there will be a high chance of rejection. First, you are taking a lower level program since you already have an MBA which is why you should be taking Master's or PhD. On top of that, you are taking a completely new course that has nothing to do with your background. Both are negative points in the eyes of the V.O.

The best situation would have been MEng/MSc in Mechanical Engineering or Master of Marketing. Look for MSc Engineering Management as well.

Look into Master of Business Analytics or Master of Management Analytics
