Hello,

I recently got engaged to a Brit and now he has a criminal record. He is deemed inadmissible to enter Canada and they have cancelled his eTA.

It's a shitty situation and my mind is all over the place right now. I am trying to stay focused and figure out a few things.

1) Should I move to England?
2) Can he even visit Canada? At all?
3) What should I do?

Thank you!!

Impossible to comment without knowing the details of his case. How long ago did the crime occur? What was it? What fine / penalty / sentence was he given and how long ago did he complete it? Was there a single incident or are there multiple convictions?

Thank you for your reply.

1) This past summer - and he's been given a suspended sentence
2) Single incident

This still isn't nearly enough information to base a response on.
What crime, length of sentence etc? This is a needed in order to assess the Canadian criminal code equivalent.
You can't "move" to England, unless you are a dual national, any more than he could just "move" to Canada. You can visit, but that's all.
If he's been deemed to be inadmissable, the only way to come to Canada would be via a Temporary Resident Permit.
