I have been issued a student visa to study in Canada this year, and I plan on bringing my desktop computer and my laptop. Also I will bring along some other stuff like mechanical keyboard and mouse, and 2 monitors. As I am bringing more than the average person will bring, will the airport security suspect that I have been hiding something? I have a lot of pirated stuff on my computer, will they bother to check my hard drive for pirated stuff and porn which I don't have? I know that the security is busy, the chances of being searched is minimal. If I were so unlucky that they had lots of time to check my hard disk, what will they do with my pirated software? Will I get in any legal issues?
This information if what I have found on the web. Since this will be the first time I am going to Canada, I'm really worried. Apart from copyright issues, would it be a better idea to put my hard disks in checked baggage (with adequate protection), such that the consequences is only confiscation, or will it raise even more suspicion? Thanks in advance for any advice or recomendations.
