If you are getting an open work permit because your spouse is a student or TFW, you can apply for a TRV for your kid based on your spouse's permit as well.

First you have to think, how old is your kid? Can you leave him/her alone (has to be >=12 yrs old) to where you are supposed to stay just in case you will be renting on your own?
