Hi all,
I am continuing my stay in Canada with an employer-specific work permit valid until November 2023.
• My permanent residence (PR) application has been in process since November 2022. (I applied under CEC and did not claim points for having a job offer)
• We have passed medical and biometrics, and the additional document status is "not applicable" (I did provide one additional document upon request recently; however, the status has been the same since IRCC made the request).
• I want to apply for an open bridge work permit to change my employment.
• Can I change my employment when I file my open bridge work permit application (not wait for the application to approve and the permit to arrive)? Do I need to email IRCC for my PR application to update my employment status change?
• Would this employment status change and change in designation affect my PR application in any way?
I do not want to apply again for my family in my BOWP, since they already have their permits based on my current employer-specific work permit.
How should I respond to these questions?
- are you accompanying a family member who has status in Canada
- do you want to submit an application for a family member

Not enough details to say.

Depends if you claimed points for having a job offer or applied under an employer stream (e.g. PNP). If so, then you want to stay with your current employer until PR is approved.

Thanks.
