Hey everyone!

I have an issue and I am wondering if this has ever happened to anyone. Yesterday I received the following email concerning my BOWP application:

This letter refers to your application for a Work Permit.
You have requested a withdrawal of your application. A refund in the amount $255.00 has been
requested from Receipt ********. This refund will be issued in the near future. If you have made
your payment online your refund will be reimbursed directly to your credit card. Please note that if
another person has paid the fee on your behalf, the refund will be issued to that person.
If you require any further extension of your status, you should submit an application to this office at
least one month prior to the expiry of your new document(s).

I never requested a withdrawal though! The application was submitted online on May 27th and I had been waiting for correspondence since then. Does anyone have an idea under which circumstances CIC withdraws applications on their own behalf?

Thanks in advance!

The only thing I can think of is if your PR application has been approved?

Otherwise no idea. I have withdrawn a paper application only and never an online one.

I am in the same boat. What should I do? Online tool is pushing me towards BOWP application.

Did you figure out what was the reason behind this email from cic?

My husband also received this email today from CIC. Though, for him it didn't state how much refund he will be getting.

He has applied for PR as well. Could it be because of that?

For future searchers,

I was working in Quebec. QSW applicants are not eligible for BOWP. I ended up applying for closed WP with my employer. I got 2 year work permit with my employer.

Hi,

I am currently holding CSQ and my WP will expire by the end of the next January. I work in bank and the HR guys just wouldn't help me work through the employer portal.

Do you know if it's the only way for someone like me to extend my WP?

Thanks,
Qi

Hi Qi,

Did you explain to them that you are exempt from LMIA and they just need to pay $230 and offer you a 2 year contract. If they still don't agree then you can either change your employer.

If you can change your employer and convince the new employer to pay $230 fee then apply with the new employer directly. I recall that I wasn't been able to find anything back then.

I hope that you get a way out of it and get your PR before January.

best wishes.
