We (primary +secondary) applied for BOWP and OWP extension for their spouse together ?
As soon as we applied, we received this letter.

Please attach this letter to your present work permit number UXXXXX as proof that you are authorized to continue working with the same conditions until Jan 09, 2022 or until a decision is made on your application, whichever is first. This extended period of work is authorized as per subsection 186(u) of the immigration and refugee protection regulations. If you leave Canada before a decision is made on your application, you will no longer be authorized to continue working

is this normal procedure ???
What happens if we do not receive BOWP decision until Jan 9th 2022, Would we have to leave our jobs and the country ?
