Hi there,
I am a 19 year old female who was born and currently lives in New Zealand. My mother was born in Canada and still has her Canadian citizenship (as far as I know) and I've always wanted to move to Canada to live. Now that I am out of the family home I've been seriously looking into applying for citizenship, however, the new laws which were passed in 2009 have confused me a bit as to whether or not I can apply for citizenship at this stage. I don't think I am currently a Canadian citizen as it is nowhere on my passport or birth certificate, but I'd always assumed that seeing as my mum was born and had grown up in Canada that I would just be able to apply and get dual citizenship. Could anyone please help me out here?? Any help will be much appreciated!
