Hello, Please I want to know whether Canada offer birth tourism to visitors from Africa. I want to also know how much it will cost for someone to give birth in Canada and which visa can someone apply for if she is just coming to give birth in Canada. Please kindly reply. Thanls

Answer is no and why would Canada given anyone born in Canada gets citizenship automatically not something that is going to be given away lightly. Even stating this as a reason for a visitor visa would be refused.

There are no special visas issued for birth tourism. If you want to give birth in Canada, you have to apply for a normal visit visa. Giving birth in Canada can cost you between 5,000 and 10,000 if there are no complications. If there are complications, it will cost more.

It is possible to buy insurance that will cover childbirth expenses as long as you buy it at least 10 months before the baby is born. If you are interested in that option, go to the health topic and look for a member called haver, he is an insurance broker.

To visit Canada you need to apply for TRV just like anyone else. If you mention on the application the reason is to give birth and have your child get Canadian citizenship, the app will most likely be rejected.

If a visitor to Canada happens to give birth here, they should budget at least $10,000 for the delivery, and as mentioned much more if there are any complications. Since the parents are not full time residents of Canada, in most provinces the baby will also not have access to provincial healthcare so would also need to pay lots more money if the baby has any medical issues to take care of.

You should be aware that giving birth in Canada gives you ZERO privileges as far as immigration is concerned. You will have to leave Canada when your visa expires, if they give you one.
Maybe in about 25 years, your child might be able to sponsor you for Canadian residency but there is no guarantee that even this would be possible by then.

Are you serious or just a troll? Some people..

I'd like to add that even if you get a visit visa, if you show up at immigration trying to enter Canada while visibly pregnant, they can ask to see your funds or insurance and refuse to let you enter if they believe that you are planning on giving birth in Canada and do not have the means to take care of yourself and your baby financially. Same would be true for the US. There is however no law against coming to Canada or the US to give birth. They just want to know that you are not going to skip out on the bill.

Breaking the unwritten rule about opening up an old thread but here is latest on why something needs to be done to restrict this process and make the non resident, non citizen more accountable for costs incurred. Maybe a threat of something more radical is required in terms of a debt should this occur, so fine gain citizenship but no actual passport issued without confirmation all debts covered.

Brutal. Hope the NICU bill will be attached to the child's MSP file for life. Signed the petition. This has been a longterm problem that is only going to get worse.
