Hello,

My wife is applying for a visa. She applied for a visa 5 years ago, so she had to give biometrics. As far as I am aware, biometrics lasts for 10 years, so she shouldn't need it again.

We applied last night, and this morning we have a letter requesting biometrics. Her last application was done on a different UCI (which she can't remember the login info) so perhaps that is why they are asking, but she shouldn't need to give biometrics again.

How should we respond to this letter?

Also, as a second thought... If biometrics only last 10 years, does that mean that any visa that is given with old biometrics will be limited to the expiration of the biometrics? So her new visa would only be until 2025, but getting a new biometrics scan would open it to 2030.

Thanks in advance!

If you don't remember the UCI, you're going to have to give the biometrics again. They can't link her old biometrics to this new application.

And no, the visa is independent of the biometrics - you'll get it for 10 years or the expiry of passport, whichever is sooner.
