Hi, I'm moving from Scotland to British Columbia with my boyfriend in the next few years (as soon as we get our visas sorted) and I was wondering if anyone had any tips for finding a teaching job?
I'm a Biology teacher and by the time I move I'll have had 3 years experience. My boyfriend is a zoologist so would like to work in a zoo, park or reserve. We don't really mind where we go but we do have a bit of a soft spot for Prince George.
Which websites should I be looking on or are there any lists I could sign up to?
Is there anyone that has done the same or is a teacher there?

Thanks,
Caroline

I assume you mean high school -- you need to look at the regulations for becoming a licensed teacher in BC, without that, there is nothing for you at the public school level. This level is well paid in BC, and jobs are not easy to find.

If you mean community college level, then just start checking out the job advertisements. Community college teaching jobs are very attractive positions in Canada, and competition for them is fierce. Biology is not one of the highly-in-demand subjects, I'm afraid. I immigrated 4 years ago under the college teacher provision (my background is also biology), and in the entire time of my visa being processed and pretty much ever since, I never saw a single job I could even apply for. There are a few, though, and if you're moving to Prince George (place stinks like a pulp mill), I'd recommend that you get a foot in the door looking at adult education instead (ABE).
