Hi,

I am a Canadian Citizen and my Spouse has a visitor visa for 9 years. We want to apply for spouse sponsorship but I was hoping that she can stay with me in Canada the most possible time during the application process. In this regard:

- Can she come to Canada and stay the visitor time limit while the sponsorship application being processed.
- Is it better that she come to Canada first on her visitor visa then while she is here we send the sponsorship application
- While her application being processed, can we renew her visitor stay without having her to leave Canada?
- Over all what is the best scenario to have her here in Canada while the application being processed?

Thank you in advance!

-Yes, but: it is not validity of the visa but of the leave to enter for period at border. This is now almost always six months. If PR application not complete by then, apply to extend - routinely granted.
-Usually yes, and should be faster.
-Yes, although term is not renew but extend.
-As described.

1) If your spouse is not already in Canada and also not have a TRV then the best option is to first apply for PR while outside Canada and once you get the AOR, you can then apply for TRV.
2) If your spouse already have a TRV and is in Canada already you can apply for PR and once you get the AOR, apply for TRV extension requesting for stay as long as the PR application is in progress and not completed
