What are the best neighborhoods in winnipeg for families, low crime etc.?

we are looking into winnipeg as an option. so i keep hearing winnipeg has a high crime rate..is this all over the city or are there fairly safe areas too...if so what are some nice ones.

The city is rough basically looking at the map Portage street split the city in 1/2. The north side stay away from. The south side is where you want to be.
Yes Winnipeg is crime capital of Canada.

getting prepared for the Winnipeg so did lots of R&D yes better stay away from the north side and even avoid the downtown rest should be good.
