Hello everybody. I am new here, was a bit lost with all the threads so well here i am. I hope someone can help me

So my girlfriend and i both are in Toronto under a working holiday visa. we asked these visas individually when we were in uk.

Hers is a year one and mine a two years (because I am French). Her visa and working permit will expire in October.
I am wondering is there any way that she can stay a year more like me?
We look at the options and being sponsored by her job seems the only answer to extend her visa. But they won't do it. Can I be her sponsor if i am not a permanent citizen myself??

thank you for your help!!

No. You have to be a PR or Citizen to sponsor. Not sure what her options are to stay, I'm only familiar with spousal. You may have better luck on some of the economic geared forums.

1) you can't extend an IEC work permit, so her employer would be starting from scratch with an LMIA supported closed work permit.
2) as an IEC work permit holder yourself, you have no ability to obtain a work permit for a dependent anyway, let alone a "girlfriend".
She can apply to change & extend her visa as a visitor.

zardo is correct.

Your girlfriend cannot work during her extended visitor visa stay.

Another option is to go to UK where your girlfriend needs to return to eventually and I believe you can get some kind of work permit there. (UK is not part of EU so I don't know what work permit for French national needs there)

thank you guys for your help!!
i guess we will have to back to uk or something....

Are you common-law? If you are and if you have a NOC A. B or 0 job, she can apply for a work permit based on your status.

You have posted in the wrong section of the forum. This section is for Canadian citizens/PRs sponsoring their family members. Post in the Foreign Worker section.

hi canuck!!
Yes we are common law if i read the definition properly.
Ok i will post it there !! Thank you.
