Hello members,

has anyone adopted a child before PR application was made or before PR processing and then added child as a dependent and declared it as an adopted child?

what documents were asked by visa office in proof of adoption for pr processing? What other any extra questions and any extra processing steps was done by visa office when compared to a biological child?

Cannot disclose the country, but safe to say it is signatory to The Hague convention. I am not looking for information on current PR/Citizens who are going for inter-country adoption. I need information on how visa offices process PR applications of dependent children (adopted) and declared as adopted. All this prior to processing /finalization of PR of children as well as parents. What steps are involved, what additional documents/proof visa offices ask to prove adoption is genuine with proper mother-child relationships. How long will it take? Child’s parents are not deceased, may be alive but do not know. Child declared as abandoned by authorities.

Your child should be included in your initial PR application if the child has been adopted in your home country and is in your care. You need to be speaking to an adoption lawyer in Canada. They will know what Canada requires to approve of an adoption in that specific country. Varies country by country especially in cases where many in orphanages are not true orphans and have been placed in an orphanage due to poverty.
