I have landed in Canada two years ago and stayed for 45 days and left without a PR card since I was told it will be mailed on the mailing address I gave. 4 months later, I received a letter saying that my photo specifications did not meet the standards and required another picture to which I immediately replied to and sent the said requirement.

Its been more than a year and I still havent got a reply from the CIC regarding my PR card. And I do plan to return this year.

Will I still be allowed to enter Canada with my PR status? Will it be revoked since I've been outside Canada for more than a year.

Thank you and hoping you can shed some light on this situation.

Well firstly you can stay outside Canada for just short of 3 years after landing as long as you stay the following 2 years without leaving at all.

In fact any combination of days in the country where you accumulate 2 years in the initial 5 years post landing would do so if you plan to only stay out for 2 years you should be fine as long as in the remaining 3 you stay for 730 days less the 45 you already have credited.

As for returning you will need to apply for a PRTD to come back to the country and when applying for that you can explain why you do not have a card currently.

Given you will not have failed RO at the time as long as you do not get anywhere near the 3 year limit you should not have any issue getting a PRTD and for sure not have your status revoked. The thing is the longer you stay away towards the 3 years before returning there is always a possibilty of more scrutiny to a PRTD application, extra scrutiny but not much else.

You can continue to try to resolve the issues with getting your PR card but maybe easier to resolve once you are back in the country, others may comment and have a solution to recommend.

Thank you so much for your immediate reply. And it is good to finally have clarity on that matter. Im more confident on doing an early return to the country.

I do have another query in mind. Is there any way we can monitor if our PR cards has been sent out already or still has any pending problems to it?
I havent found any link online on where we can inquire or track it.

Did it arrive at the address you gave? Did you receive any other mail at that address?

It did arrive on the address that I gave which was a family friend of ours. But after a year they moved into a new house. And they still frequently check their mail for it. Is there a chance that they have not sent out my PR card because I've been outside the country for more than 6 months?

Assume you mean the letter arrived. If sent in the pictures and then it took another 4-6 months for some reason it may have been sent back by the new owners if they didn't recognize the name on the mail. I would reorder again and say it must have been lost in the mail.

Yeah, I think so too. I'll just reorder a new one when I get back. But till now isntt here a way to track if the card has been sent or not? Like how they do it with Fedex etc.?

Even if there was a tracking system it probably wouldn't have details from a year ago. Just reorder it. You can still get PRTD. Would make sure you leave enough time just in case there are some delays in processing. Some people seems to leave these things to the very last minute!
